The Folkestone Teeny Boppers

Organisation type

The Folkestone Teeny Boppers are a family-run non-profit organisation teaching 50s Rock and Roll dancing to children aged 5+.

Founded in 1995, by Margaret and John Hannah, the original Rock and Rollers. Based in Folkestone, they are well known across the community for being an inclusive group, for children of all abilities and needs. All of their teachers are volunteers, all of them ex-students, who after finishing all ten of their awards have gone on to teach students themselves.

Their lessons take place at 10am on Saturday mornings at The Grand Burstin Hotel. They often perform for school fetes, local music festivals and Christmas markets, as well as being regular special guest performers for the BCM music festivals four times a year.

Early in 2024, the team were invited on stage to join the Jive Aces at Folkestone's Tower Theatre, having previously worked with them to create a music video. It was an epic night which was thoroughly adored by the spectators.
